Why acoustics are important
When you are planning your workspace, acoustic solutions are a vital consideration. Sound has an impact on the way people work; their focus, concentration, productivity and stress levels impacted negatively if a workspace is ‘crowded’ with noise. A well-planned space with acoustics can improve the soundscape, aiding an employee’s effectiveness, well-being and perception of the space they are in.
When we space plan, we consider acoustic solutions as essential to fit the space in question and more importantly its function. The solution must ‘fit’ within the interior design of the space and not impact on the integrity of the scheme.
We can offer advice and a range of acoustic solutions, whatever your requirements.
Choosing the right chair
One of the main reasons for discomfort in the workplace and in particular, musculoskeletal disorders is poor posture and incorrect set up and placement of equipment. In the short-term poor posture may simply cause discomfort but left unchecked over a prolonged period of time this could result in more chronic musculoskeletal & upper limb disorders including back pain, neck and shoulder pain, carpel tunnel syndrome, eyestrain, headaches, stress, fatigue, RSI & Sciatica. These injuries are often referred to as slow injuries; the effects building up over a long period of time, ranging from chronic discomfort to acute pain. Early prevention is crucial and many health problems can easily be avoided by ensuring employees are working comfortably.
Chosing the right chair is SO important. At Landmark, we have a huge choice of options but knowing what is right for you is where we can advise. We even offer a ‘try before you buy’ service, allowing you to road test our chairs before purchase. And with competitive pricing and many with a 5 year guarantee, you can ensure you are making the right choice.

Workplace trends 2019
There were lots of interesting displays at Clerkenwell Design Week 2019. Amongst the biggest trends shown was a leaning towards a more natural & sustainable workplace, enhanced by biophila (bringing the outside in). Also popular is a move for companies to create areas designed to improve employee functionality, not only to encourage collaboratation, but with well-planned acoustics, to increase productivity and well-being.
These are the trends for 2019:
- Health & Wellbeing (ergonomic furniture, break-out areas, creative spaces & acoustic ‘quiet’ zones)
- Biophilia (bringing the outside in)
- Natural & raw materials & industrial design
- Collaborative spaces
- Suspended Ceiling Displays
- Feature walls
- Muted tones
